Overstep™ Sexual Harassment Prevention Training - Employee Edition (1 Hour)
1-hour employee edition • harassment prevention training
Sexual harassment training people can actually stay with. Overstep™ teaches employees how to recognize, prevent, and respond to workplace harassment by starting with something every adult already understands: boundaries—and what happens when personal, professional, organizational, or legal boundaries are crossed.
Most harassment training starts with the law. Overstep starts with the moment a boundary gets crossed.
That shift matters. Instead of dropping adults into an hour of definitions, warnings, and awkward hypotheticals, Overstep™ builds a practical framework for noticing what is happening in real time: What boundary is here? What changed? What power is operating? What is the impact? What can I do next?
From there, the course connects everyday workplace judgment to the legal concepts employees still need to know—sexual harassment, sex-based harassment, discrimination, retaliation, abusive conduct, protected characteristics, reporting options, and prevention.
The examples are adapted from patterns CircleUp® has encountered across more than a decade of HR work. The result is training designed for adults across industries—not a generic corporate video people click through and forget.
The core idea
Overstep™ defines an overstep as crossing a personal, professional, organizational, or legal boundary in a way that creates impact on a person, relationship, or workplace. That language gives learners a usable way to recognize problems before they escalate—and a bridge into the legal standards they are required to understand.
Built to feel different
The course is intentionally adult, practical, and direct. It respects the seriousness of the topic without making the learning experience stiff, theatrical, or detached from real work.
Personal, professional, organizational, and legal boundaries become the through-line for recognizing conduct, communicating expectations, and deciding when to act.
Employees explore power dynamics, bias, fear of retaliation, conflict avoidance, and pressure to comply—so “why didn’t they just say something?” is replaced with a more accurate understanding.
Learners identify what boundary is being crossed, what protected identities may be involved, how intent and impact differ, and what response options are available.
Inside the 1-hour course
A practical path from everyday boundaries to harassment law, reporting, prevention, and response.
Multi-state deployment
Overstep™ is built around the content areas that appear across U.S. harassment-prevention mandates, with jurisdiction-specific assignment rules and add-ons where the law requires something more than a general one-hour course.
Designed around California’s one-hour interactive harassment-prevention framework for nonsupervisory employees, including practical examples, protected characteristics, sexual and sex-based harassment, retaliation, abusive conduct, gender identity/expression and sexual orientation, reporting and remedies, prevention, knowledge checks, and scenario-based application. For California e-learning deployments, the delivery must include instructions for contacting a qualified trainer who can answer learner questions within two business days.
Compliance depends on employee work location, employer size/industry, delivery format, required employer-specific policy/reporting information, and any jurisdiction-specific trainer, timing, language, recordkeeping, or supplemental-content rules. CircleUp® updates Overstep™ annually, but employers remain responsible for confirming the requirements that apply to their workforce.
Choose how you deploy it
The experience stays consistent. The delivery can match the way your organization already works.
Register, complete the self-paced course, satisfy the required assessment and completion steps, and receive your learner record/certificate.

Plan a rolloutContinuing education
Participants who successfully complete this qualifying one-hour learning event and its stated completion requirements may earn 0.1 IACET Continuing Education Unit, because one IACET CEU represents 10 contact hours.
CEU acceptance varies by employer, licensing board, credentialing organization, and profession. Participants should confirm acceptance with the organization that will receive the CEU record.
Accreditation statement: CircleUp Education is accredited by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and offers IACET CEUs for its learning events that comply with the ANSI/IACET Continuing Education and Training Standard. IACET accredits the provider and its continuing-education processes; it does not individually approve or certify each CircleUp® course.
A look inside
The training uses visual scenarios, reflection, and decision points to move learners from recognition to action.
Two Overstep™ editions
For nonsupervisory employees. Focuses on boundaries, recognition, sexual and sex-based harassment, discrimination, retaliation, reporting, bystander choices, prevention, and response.
Includes the employee foundation plus a second hour for supervisors and managers: receiving reports, mandatory escalation, anti-retaliation, using positional power responsibly, setting expectations, intervening, and responding to real supervisory scenarios.
Questions, answered
Yes. Overstep™ is a workplace sexual-harassment and harassment-prevention training. Its distinctive approach is to teach the legal and workplace concepts through boundaries, power dynamics, realistic scenarios, and practical response choices.
It is designed around California’s one-hour nonsupervisory training framework. California compliance also depends on interactive delivery, required content and activities, a qualified trainer/question process for e-learning, proper timing, and the employer’s own compliance obligations. California deployments should be configured so those delivery and trainer-access requirements are actually present, not merely described on the product page.
California supervisors need at least two hours. Use Overstep™: Supervisor Edition — Sexual Harassment, Power & the Duty to Act.
Yes, as a core multi-state harassment-prevention course, but there is not one universal U.S. hour requirement. Some jurisdictions require a different duration, supervisor-specific content, an extra bystander module, a certified trainer, industry-specific content, or the employer’s own complaint process/policy. CircleUp® can help map the correct assignment by location and role.
No. Covered Connecticut employers require a two-hour employee training path. Contact us so Connecticut learners are assigned the appropriate two-hour path rather than this one-hour edition.
Chicago requires annual sexual-harassment prevention training of at least one hour for employees and two hours for managers/supervisors, plus an additional one hour of bystander training for all employees. The core Overstep™ course should be paired with the required bystander hour for Chicago.
Yes. A SCORM version is available for organizational deployment. If you do not use an LMS, CircleUp® can support registration and completion through its own learning environment.
Yes. Learners who satisfy the course completion requirements receive completion documentation. Organizations using their own LMS can also track completion inside their system, depending on their LMS setup.
This one-hour qualifying learning event offers 0.1 IACET CEU to participants who meet the stated completion requirements. CircleUp Education is an IACET Accredited Provider. Acceptance of IACET CEUs varies, so learners should confirm requirements with the employer, board, association, or other receiving organization.
No. Overstep™ is designed for adults across industries. The core concepts—boundaries, power, harassment, reporting, retaliation, bystander choices, and response—apply across workplace settings, while organization-specific or industry-specific supplements can be added when required.
CircleUp® reviews and updates Overstep™ annually so examples, terminology, legal references, and the learning experience can stay current. Organizations with jurisdiction-specific needs should still confirm the applicable law at the time of assignment.
Yes—and in several jurisdictions, that employer-specific information is essential. For organizational deployments, CircleUp® can discuss how to incorporate or pair your internal policy, complaint pathways, HR contacts, and required local reporting resources with the core course.
Yes. Bulk-seat, team, enterprise, and SCORM conversations are handled directly with CircleUp®. Use the scheduler below for a 30-minute rollout conversation or send the inquiry form.
